Same Phone, Bigger Screen… or a Hidden Surprise? Sumsang S26 Plus Tested to the Limit!

This is Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Plus. It’s basically a Galaxy S26, but with a bigger, sharper screen, and its design and features have hardly been touched since last year. So, there you have it. The Galaxy S26 Plus. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you next time. No, we’re not letting this phone off that easy. There could be something worth discovering. So, let’s run the S26 Plus through our tests and find out.

Same Looks, Different Power? Galaxy S26 Plus Chipset Mystery You Need to Know!

Samsung must have been giving its hardware R&D a break lately. Instead, Samsung’s focusing largely on AI software features. On paper, the Galaxy S26 Plus is very much like its predecessor. The biggest change is the nextG chipset and the fact that you can get this phone with a different chip based on the region. That would be either a four Galaxy version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with higher than normal clock speeds. It’s reserved for the US, China, and Japan. Or it could come with an in-house XNL’s 2600. This version is available in the rest of the world, including Europe, and it’s the one we have our hands on here.

Minor Upgrades, Major Compromises? Galaxy S26 Plus Performance Truth Revealed!

Looking at the benchmarks, we do see some improvements over last year’s model depending on the test, but where there is a difference, it isn’t huge. Surprisingly for a flagship, the S26 Plus was able to maintain a solid amount of CPU performance through our prolonged stress test. However, the thermal management is more typical when it comes to the GPU. In this test, the S26 Plus throttled down to half of its peak. Another upgrade you get on the S26 Plus is 20 watt Gi 2.2 wireless charging as opposed to 15 watts last year. It’s compatible with magnetic wireless charging accessories, but only if you get a case that adds the magnets because the phone doesn’t have any builtin. The wired charging, on the other hand, hasn’t changed. It’s again 45 watts.

Same Battery, Longer Life?! Galaxy S26 Plus Delivers a Surprise You Didn’t See Coming!

With the proper adapter, we were able to charge the S26 Plus from zero to about 70% in half an hour, and a full charge took about an hour. That’s to fill up a 4900 mAh battery. There were no changes to battery size this year. However, the battery life is surprisingly better on the new model. In our testing, the S26 Plus earned a very good active use score of about 16 1/2 hours. Samsung somehow has managed to produce longer run times in the allimportant web browsing and video streaming scenarios. On the surface of the S26 Plus, we see a tweaked design. There’s a little island connecting the cameras now like on the S25 Edge. Otherwise, it’s again Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back and front and an aluminum frame. The IP68 rated ingress protection is back as expected.
