Late-Game Drama: Darnold to Kupp Shocks Seahawks Fans

Okay, so interesting situation here in the Rams Seahawks game that happened late. So there’s a four-point Seattle lead, but it’s a third down and eight here. If the Rams can get a stop, they can get the ball back with enough time for Matthew Stafford to lead one more drive, and he’s been redot in the second half. So if you’re a Seahawks fan, you’re wanting your offense to ice it right here. So, okay, what happened? Sam Darnold is going to find Cooper Cup on this play. Ironically enough, Cup, the former Ram Cup is able to just get close to the first down marker. They’ve ruled this a catch.

Risky Call Late: McVey’s Timeout Choice Changes Game Fate

He was down by contact, so no fumble. And they’ve ruled it a first down. You know, Shawn McVey sees that it’s ruled a catch, immediately just calls a timeout. That was his plan all along. I want to call a timeout to preserve the clock. However, since he already burned a timeout, now you are allowed to challenge. But if you decide to throw the red challenge flag, that’s a separate action. And the punishment for throwing a a you know red challenge flag and having it be ruled uh you know call on the field stance is you lose a challenge and you lose a timeout. McVey made the decision to not risk losing another timeout because that would almost then they’re out of timeouts that would essentially lose the game for them.

Frame-by-Frame Drama: Did Kupp Really Reach the Marker?

They best case scenario get the ball with about a minute left to try and do something. But let let’s look over to this uh angle because obviously had he won the challenge it would have been fourth and one. I can’t imagine Seattle goes for it on fourth and one deep in their own territory. You probably get one more chance. This is the best angle. I’m going to zoom it in to try and make it look a little bit to try to give us a better better angle as to did Cooper Cup get the first down marker. Watch. You see I’m going to go frame by frame here. You see him slow down and then eventually I’m going to pause this right when right now he has touched the ground. Is the ball over that white line? That is the question. I mean I’ll even zoom in a little bit more.

Too Close to Overturn: Why the Call Was Always Standing

I can’t really tell, right? It’s hard to see exactly where that ball is in this situation. Is the nose of the ball over the first down over that line? Again, just part of it has to be over the line. It’s so really hard to tell in this situation. I can’t imagine they would have overturned it with this angle. So, obviously for McVey, he would have loved to just throw the flag initially and get that review. I think it probably stands. I think everything, you know, would have gone the way it would have gone regardless. So, I don’t think he made a mistake, but I don’t know, maybe you see it differently. Let me know in the comments below if you.
