OnePlus 9 in 2026: Old Flagship…But Still Shockingly Good?!

Hey guys, welcome back to the blog. I wanted to discuss with you all my experiences so far using a device like the OnePlus 9; honestly, it is a fantastic phone. I mean, there are a lot of new phones coming out these days—along with plenty of reviews for them, and all sorts of similar content. I completely understand that—it’s just like having a new, shiny toy. However, you can still get an excellent experience and great value from an older flagship phone like the OnePlus 9. And I feel compelled to praise it precisely because not every device stands the test of time.

OnePlus 9: 3 Years Later…Why Does It Still Feel Like New?!

You know, there are some devices that start off great, but as a few years go by, you begin to feel like they’re becoming obsolete—but the OnePlus 9 is not one of those devices. Even though it features Oxygen OS 14 (based on Android 14), a Snapdragon 888 processor, and 8 GB of RAM (expandable via virtual RAM)—plus 128 GB of internal storage and a 4500 mAh battery—these are the specifications people often focus on—it also boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate on the display. Despite all these factors, this phone feels neither outdated nor useless.

OnePlus 9 on Android 14: Still Future-Proof…Or Just Holding On?

First and foremost, it doesn’t feel obsolete because it isn’t running on a very old version like Android 7 or 8; I mean, it’s running on Android 14, which is currently only two generations old. I believe the reason for this—especially for someone like me (if you guys have been following me and watching my videos for a while)—is that when it comes to Google Pixel devices, I always emphasize the importance of running the very latest version of Android.

OnePlus 9 vs Pixel Updates: Are You Missing Out on Hidden Features?!

So then, why should things be any different in the case of the OnePlus 9? Let me explain: Pixel phones receive ‘Pixel Drops‘ every three months. And these Pixel Drops contain a host of features—some are truly impressive, while others are incredibly practical. Naturally, I want all of those features to be available on my Pixel phone.

OnePlus 9: No AI, No Hype…So Why Is It Still So Good?!

On the other hand, when it comes to the OnePlus 9, I don’t own it for the sake of AI features or Pixel Drop-style functionalities. I actually own it simply so that I can use the Android operating system on a smartphone. Therefore—even if it runs Oxygen OS 14—I don’t view that as a drawback in the slightest.
