Curling Starts Early: Mixed Doubles Fire Up Milano 2026
As we count down to the 2026 Winter Olympics, Milano Cortina Curling. There’s so much curling that they have to start the competition two days before the opening ceremony. So that means the first stones will be thrown in Cortina on Wednesday night. It all kicks off with mixed doubles curling, and it’s perhaps more competitive than ever before. Ten teams are competing in mixed doubles curling. So they’ll play a nine-game round-robin starting on Wednesday. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs, the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals will go straight to the gold medal game.
The losers will go to the bronze medal game. And everywhere you look, there will be world champions, Olympic champions, including, of course, from Italy, from Cortina, if you can believe it. Amos Mosaner and Stefania Constantini. They’re from their hometown in Italy. What a fantastic situation. What a scene it’s going to be at the Cortina curling venue. The world champions from the United States, Cory Thiesse and Cory Dropkin. Jennifer Dodds and Bruce Mouat from Great Britain, and of course, from Canada, Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant. They won the silver medal at the World Championships.
As I said, there’s competitive parity across the board, and there’s a feeling in many curling circles that any of the 10 teams could truly reach the podium. As we know, there’s a certain unpredictability to mixed doubles curling. So it all begins Wednesday evening, the first draw. It will run through the championship games on Tuesday, February 10th. After that, the women’s and men’s fours will take center stage. I’ll be on the ground keeping you updated on everything. You won’t miss a single moment. It’s going to be dramatic. As always, get ready.
