OnePlus A6 (15R): 7800mAh Battery & 165Hz Display—Too Powerful to Be Real?!

This is the OnePlus A6. And if this launches globally as the OnePlus 15R, OnePlus might truly have something special on its hands. Inside, we find the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a large 1.5K 165 Hz AMOLED display—identical to that of the flagship OnePlus 15—and somehow, they’ve managed to squeeze in an even larger battery: a massive 7800 mAh unit. On paper, there is a lot to like here. So today, let’s unbox the A6 and take a closer look at what OnePlus has actually delivered.

OnePlus A6 Unboxing: Base Model…But Is This the Real Flagship Killer?!

Well, that was a bit weird—and everything in between. If you’re visiting for the first time, or if you still haven’t committed it to memory yet, my name is Ash. You’re watching C4 Tech. And if you find this video interesting—if you enjoy these early hands-on looks at Chinese device launches—then please like this video, subscribe to the channel, and let’s get started. [Laughs] As always, we begin with that familiar red OnePlus box. It features the A6 branding in large, bold lettering. I picked up the 12/256 variant—which, as most of you probably know, is exactly the one I would have chosen. This serves as the base model.

OnePlus A6: 16GB RAM Beast with Bold Design—Love It or Hate It?!

OnePlus offers up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to one terabyte of UFS 4.1 storage—specs that have become quite standard these days. Now, inside, we find a red insert containing a leaflet and a soft protective case. And regarding the design here—specifically that massive “Ace” branding on the back—be sure to let me know in the comments whether you love it or hate it. Next up, we get to the phone itself—the OnePlus A6. Upon peeling off the protective wrapping, we can see that the A6 follows the exact same design language established by the OnePlus 15 and the 13 series that preceded it.

OnePlus A6 Design: Sleek, Smart & Smudge-Free—Is This Perfection?!

The camera bump is very slim, and the camera module is slightly narrower this time, so there is plenty of space to rest your fingers—especially when aming in landscape. Now, the back here is frosted glass with a matte finish. It feels silky smooth to touch and is also quite resistant to picking up fingerprints and smudges. Actually, even the frame too. It’s sand blasted aluminium and it’s color matched to the back. There’s the shortcut key, same as the one on the OnePlus 15. You can map it or launch the camera, record a voice note, toggle the flashlight on or off, amongst other things.
