This powerful OnePlus 5 smartphone will feature 8 GB RAM a powerful battery, 16 MP Camera
If you know who OnePlus is, you probably already know a great deal about OnePlus phones. You likely know that they come with high-end specifications and premium build quality. You probably know that they are sold online at quite affordable prices. And you likely also know that they give the best phones from Samsung, Apple, and Google some stiff competition. Now, what you might not know about OnePlus’s newest phone—the OnePlus 5—is the device itself. It shares many features with its predecessor, the 3T.
OnePlus 5: Higher Price, Same Look—Is It Still a Flagship Killer?
It boasts a premium, all-aluminum build quality. It features Qualcomm’s fastest processor and packs the highest amount of RAM found in any smartphone. However, it also introduces some new features, such as a new dual-lens camera system. And its price tag is also slightly higher than before. Let’s start with the basics. The 64 GB model of the OnePlus 5 is priced at $479, while the 128 GB version costs $539. This represents an increase of $4 to $100 compared to the 3T. Furthermore, its price point places it very close to the premium flagship phones offered by other companies. This means that the OnePlus 5 needs to step up its game just a little bit more. To set itself apart, it features the same 5.5-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio, 1080p AMOLED display found in last year’s model.
OnePlus 5 Design: Looks Like an iPhone…But Is It Actually Better?
The display is decent—it is bright, sharp, and colorful, and it remains legible even outdoors (which is a plus)—but it isn’t quite as spectacular as the edge-to-edge screens found on Samsung’s Galaxy S8 or LG’s G6. Compared to the more angular 3T, the design of the OnePlus 5 is rounder and more curved—a look that most people will recognize instantly. In fact, it looks somewhat like a slightly smaller iPhone 7; the dual-camera setup is reminiscent of the iPhone’s, as are the curved antenna lines. It also features a super-fast fingerprint scanner located right below the screen on the front, but it includes some unique OnePlus touches as well—such as the ringer switch, which makes it incredibly easy to toggle the ringer on and off.

OnePlus 5: Insanely Fast…But Is Speed Actually Ruining the Experience?
The OnePlus 5 comes equipped with either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, depending on whether you opt for the 64 GB or the 128 GB model. I am currently using the 8 GB model, and it is incredibly fast; everything opens instantly, every task executes rapidly—even app installations, which typically take a considerable amount of time on Android, complete in a flash on this phone. I have occasionally noticed a slight “jelly-like” scrolling effect, though this isn’t always apparent; for the most part, the OnePlus 5 remains exceptionally fast. However, the thing about speed is that faster isn’t always better. For instance, the OnePlus 5 is faster than the Galaxy S8—precisely because it lacks the S8’s smooth animations and overall fluidity. It feels as though the OnePlus 5 is running in fast-forward mode, which doesn’t always translate to the best user experience. Inside, it also houses a 3,300 mAh battery—which, in my opinion, charges remarkably fast.
