This powerful Samsung Galaxy S23+ smartphone will feature 8 GB RAM, a powerful battery, and 50 MP Camera.
Samsung S23 Lineup: Almost Too Good to Be True—Is It Worth Your Upgrade?
So, we have some new Samsung phones to kick off the year, just as we usually expect. This time around, it’s the S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra. Spoiler alert: I’ve been using them for about two hours. They are pretty much just like last year’s phones—which is actually a great thing, since those were excellent devices. But that also means I might just be able to make this the shortest MKBHD video of the year. So, I’ll give it a shot. Let’s get started. Alright, so the lineup consists of the S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra.
Samsung S23 vs S23 Plus: Size Matters More Than You Think—Which Should You Pick?
However, the entire lineup is available in the exact same four colors: Phantom Black, Green, Lavender, and Cream. I think all of these colors look quite understated and classy. And, as expected, the S23 and S23 Plus are nearly identical—save for their size. That means you can either opt for the smaller phone, which features a 6.1-inch 1080p OLED display and a 3900 mAh battery; or you can go for the larger one, which sports a 6.6-inch 1080p OLED display and a 4700 mAh battery. Additionally, the larger phone offers slightly faster wired charging—peaking at 45 Watts compared to 25 Watts—and it also comes with more base storage.
Samsung S23: Just a Camera and Chip Upgrade? The Truth Might Surprise You!
The smaller phone starts with 128 GB of storage, while the Plus model starts at 256 GB. And that’s about it. So, aside from that, you’ll find the same general shape and design as last year—a flat display, and as you’d expect, the ports and speakers are located at the bottom. The button placement remains largely the same as well. It still features wireless charging and an IP rating. In fact, compared to the S22, there are really only two things that have been updated here: the chip and the cameras. So, the new chip is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. And if you paid attention during the presentation, Samsung is referring to this as the ‘Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy’—as if it were some sort of special, customized chip.
Samsung S23’s ‘Special Chip’: Hype or Just a Tiny Boost? You’ll Be Shocked
However, when I asked Samsung about this, it seemed that they are essentially just slightly boosting its maximum clock speed. It’s possible this is simply a case of ‘binning’—we don’t know for sure. Therefore, I don’t anticipate there being a massive difference compared to other phones that feature the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. But, as you know, this is something we will put to the test and examine in our full review.

Samsung S23 Camera Overhaul: Is This the Upgrade You’ve Been Waiting For?
This is a review—well, I mean, you know—these phones certainly feel quite fast. Samsung phones always feel this snappy when they are brand new, so I’m not particularly concerned. However, the other new feature I mentioned is the camera. These new camera systems have been completely overhauled—featuring new sensors, new image processing, and new AI-driven photo remastering. It sports a 50-megapixel main camera, paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera.
